Children’s books have long been proven to stimulate, expand and nurture the imagination.
Once Upon a Story is designed to increase children’s love for literature and books while enhancing their reading readiness skills and language development. Each week the children will listen to a popular book by one of many wonderful authors. They will engage in a discussion about the book learning different terminology (characters, setting, conflict, solution). They will learn to make predictions about the story and new vocabulary words will be discussed all while developing their reading, writing, and oral expression skills. This class will teach students to take turns, listen to their peers and engage in conversation related to the story presented. Children will then take part in activities related to the story, which may include art, drama, cooking, math or science.
Every week a new adventure!
The magic of stories brought to life through creative expression (drama), art, cooking, math or science.
